About This Place

Located at 3701 Central Ave in Charlotte, North Carolina, Central Fish Market perfectly blends the vibrant energy of a bustling seafood market with the convenience and warmth of a takeout restaurant and dine-in spot. This unique establishment offers seafood lovers an authentic taste of coastal freshness without leaving the city, making it a beloved destination for both locals and visitors craving high-quality, fresh catches.

Central Fish Market stands out not just for its impressive selection but for the personalized customer experience it offers. As many guests attest, this place feels like a home away from home. Terrance Mcmichael, a seafood enthusiast from Washington DC, shares how this market brings the taste of Maryland's famous blue crabs, Black Bass, and Red Snapper right to Charlotte, noting their expert steaming service and top-notch quality that earns a full 10/10 rating. The pride in freshness shows at first glance—from clear fish eyes to vibrantly pink gills, as Henrietta enthusiastically confirms, ensuring every item is guaranteed to satisfy even the most discerning palates.

What truly elevates Central Fish Market is their full-service approach: customers can purchase the freshest fish, shrimp, or bushels of blue crabs and have them cooked on-site, either steamed or fried, tantalizing the senses with the aromas of expertly prepared seafood. Yolanda Blackmon’s first visit highlights this perfectly—though she initially had reservations about the fish size, the flavors and warm hospitality left her eager to return. The cozy, welcoming atmosphere created by the friendly staff, especially Jenny and Jenni who have built strong, trusting relationships within the community, only add to the experience. Loc Nguyen’s repeated visits reflect this sentiment: great seafood combined with attentive service turns each trip into a weekly ritual.

When you step inside Central Fish Market, expect more than just a purchase—you’ll discover a genuine connection to the sea and to people who care deeply about quality and tradition. Whether you’re ordering as takeout or dining in, the combination of fresh, sweet crab meat, perfectly cooked shrimp, and freshly fried fish creates an unforgettable sensory journey. The hustle and bustle behind the counter, the sizzling of seafood being prepared right before your eyes, and the unmistakable scent of the ocean’s bounty invite you to savor each bite and each moment.

Known for their dependability and passionate customer service, Central Fish Market has become a trusted source for seafood aficionados. Nick Dipaola’s account of years spent working with the owner, coordinating orders and shipments seamlessly, is a testament to their reliability and commitment to the freshest seafood available. This establishment clearly prioritizes making every customer feel valued and well cared for—qualities that turn occasional visitors into devoted regulars.

I love Central Fish Market! I bought crabs there, and they were amazing. The crabs were big and perfectly cooked, and the meat was sweet and tasty. You can tell they sell only the freshest seafood. Jenny, the lady who helped me, was super friendly and kind. She made the whole experience so pleasant. I’ll be back every week! If you love seafood, you must visit Central Fish Market. It’s the best!

The best fish market in Charlotte!! Very neat and clean. The fish is very fresh. Eyes are clear and the gills are pink. The signs of fresh fish. They also have bushels of blue crabs. This place will fry your seafood and steam the crabs right in front of you. They are open Wednesdays through Saturdays. The ladies who work there are always very courteous.

I have been getting blue crabs from Jenni (owner) for years now. She is amazing to work with. Calls me when they are in and I place and order. Her team is always quick to get them to me. I make it as easy as possible for them. I searched for years to find a place and I lean searched. From dry ice shipment, to picking up from airport, to waiting for hours in a gas station parking lot for crabs. If you are looking for quality seafood and great customer service at great prices. This is the place to go. Thanks Jenni for being awesome and please keep up the good work. It’s hard to find great people like yourself these days.

It was my first time ever eating there. The fish i got wasn't all that in quality in size, but I still purchased 4 spots and added me some fries to the order. I had them cook it for me since it was late and last minute. When I tell you I wasn't disappointed, I wasn't. I was pleased and the welcoming and pleasantries from the cook were exceptional. I will definitely be eating there again.

Cooked the crabs perfectly. After pulling the legs there was almost no meat left inside. The only thing I would change is the seasoning. I prefer JO spice than Old Bay. But I will continue to buy from them.
